How do you......

Get yourself out of a spiritual funk? I have been having the hardest times with being active and going to church since we moved out of AZ. I still have a testimony, live the right way and believe in the gospel. But I just can't make it to church on a regular basis. I want to be active again, receive a calling and be a part of a ward again. I am just having a hard time with the first steps. I know I should just stop whining, get over it and go already. But, sometimes I just don't know what to do...

You're right, you just have to decide to go! Go on Sunday and ask the RS president if there's anything you could do to help with the next Enrichment Night! You'd be able to get to know more people, which makes it easier to go! Make a friend in the ward, tell her about your struggle, and let her help you!

Also, pray for the desire to go regularly! And then pray for the ability to go regularly!

One thing that worked for me is to have a buddy. Someone you go to church with. That would sit all by themselves if you didn't show up.

And if you are having a hard time voicing your concerns, tell your visiting teachers and ask them to pass along the message. I V.T. a few sisters who could NOT tell "leaders" what they needed, for a variety of reasons. So I became their voice. And things turned out really well.

Good Luck! I know it's hard to stay active when you're in a new place, especially when there isn't a high concentration of LDS members. But I have to tell you, those wards are often the BEST wards. Because the ward boundaries are larger there is a wider variety of people attending the ward. And those wards are usually very warm and welcoming, mainly because their just so grateful to have another person! :) .

It will be great!

Thanks for the advice. I made it to sacrament today and it was nice. I actually heard some things that I really needed to hear. It has prompted me to start a journal for me to write down all my thoughts and goals. I am thinking it will help me to clarify what the heck is going on with me.

Thanks again for listening :)

I know what you mean. We are moving for the 5th time in a year and a half this next week. It is SO hard to feel like part of a new ward at first. We have been here for almost a year and because I have been in nursery and with all of my daughters medical issues we have had to deal with this year, our church attendance has definitely suffered. Even though most of the times we haven't gone have been legitimate reasons, it sure makes it easier to justify not going when you haven't been going (For whatever reason). So I can totally relate. Hopefully moving to this new ward will help me to start over and find a way to fit in, even if it means making more of an effort on my part.

I struggled with inactivity for years. I moved to a small county in OR, where I knew no one, last year. I attended Church and fell in love with the Church all over again. My testimony has grown in many ways. I struggle with sitting through the entire 3 hr block, but made a pact with The Savior that I would at least attend Sacrament meeting. Generally I end up staying.
Blessed Be Sister!
